The drive's USB cord fits in either the zippered accessory compartment (on top of the sleeve) or in the main compartment along with the drive. The navy blue sleeve interior is lined with orange nylon fabric.
According to the tag, this is an "E-Book Reader Case", so the sleeve obviously will hold an e-Book reader. The excellent Samsung drive (Samsung USB 2.0 8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive for Mac and PC SE-S084C/RSBN (Gloss Black) measures 5.5" wide by 6.25" long by 0.75" high, and fits in the sleeve with lengthwise room to spare. Thus the sleeve should be able to accommodate a similar peripheral that is 7.25" long, or possibly as much as 7.5" long.
The Samsung drive isn't flimsy, but it seems to need some protection if you are going to carry it around. I looked everywhere for a plastic storage box that would fit the drive, without success. This sleeve provides the protection I was looking for, at a reasonable price.
