Such has been my experience with My Passport because I do not leave it on my desk but retrieve it only when I'm ready to backup my work. It's gotten a number of scratches from moving it around so often. So when I found this case, I ordered it immediately.
It's been a good find. Lowepro's Deluxe Media Case for Portable Hard Drives is just what I needed.
Here's my take on this storage case:
PROS:
1. The case has a hard outer shell that protects the contents. The interior is lined with a fleecy material to prevent (further) scratches.
2. A dedicated pocket is a nice, tight fit for my hard drive. No rattling around for this drive.
3. An interior flap (also of hard material) protects the drive from potential scratching by its required usb cable, and there are pockets for memory cards on the other side of this flap. The flap itself is covered by the same fleecy material as the interior of the shell.
CONS:
None. This is a great case for protecting small hard drives.
OVERALL:
This is a good specialty product. It is specifically designed for small portable drives and not suitable for larger drives, so be aware of the size of your drive before you select this case.
