I do like the looser front than most balaclava, it still seals up well enough, but not as uncomfortable as the skin tight versions. Very much a plus.
The cloth is your standard synthetic micro/polar fleece, same as anything else.
The only thing that notched this from 4 to 5 is the cord for tightening the face. I sort of thought it was elastic, but it turns out to be like a shoelace with frayed ends.
It's still functional, but it does make it feel a little cheap.
